PETALUM

This collection of twenty-two botancial studies is an exploration of form, light and shade, creating a sculptural quality, as though each flower is carved from stone.

ABOUT THE SERIES: PETALUM

Petalum is Paul's original floral series; evolving from an initial portrait of a small pink tulip, to inspiring a full series of black and white floral portraits.

The darkness surrounding each bloom lends the images elegance and gravitas and allows the viewers' attention to focus completely on the flower; its form, texture and detail.

The initial study, Pink Tulip IV, has won numerous international awards and the Petalum series as a whole earned Paul the coveted Fellowship at the British Institute of Professional Photography (BIPP), which he attained for “distinguished and exceptional ability and creativity”

Pink Tulip IV was exhibited at the Summer Exhibition at the Royal Academy in London
