Petalum is Paul's original floral series; evolving from an initial portrait of a small pink tulip, to inspiring a full series of black and white floral portraits.

The series is a study of form and shape, light and shade, creating a sculptural quality, as though each flower has been carved from stone.

The darkness surrounding each bloom lends the images elegance and gravitas and allows the viewers' attention to focus completely on the flower; its form, texture and detail.

The initial study, Pink Tulip IV, has won numerous international awards and the Petalum series as a whole earned Paul a coveted Fellowship at the British Institute of Professional Photography (BIPP), attained for “distinguished and exceptional ability and creativity”
