'Workhorse' Series Featured in Black + White Photography Magazine

“The studies concentrate on the horses’ natural lines, shapes, muscular power and elegance, as though they are living sculptures or landscapes.”

I am thrilled to have my latest animal portrait series ‘Workhorse’ featured in the UK’s Black + White Photography magazine, Issue no. 273.

Most of my animal studies have a conservation angle to them and for this project I was interested in researching a species which I wouldn’t normally associate with being under threat: the Suffolk Punch breed of horse, right here in my home county.

For this project I was allowed special access to the horses and photographed them in Suffolk, eastern England, where the rare breed originated.

To avoid the traditional portrait style, I instead took inspiration from other art-forms such as modern sculpture, dance and even abstraction, concentrating on the horses’ natural lines, shapes, muscular power and elegance, as though they are living sculptures or landscapes.

As with much of my other work, exquisite detail was an important factor in this series, to draw the viewer in for a more intimate experience.

Workhorse’ consists of 12 limited edition fine art photography prints, which are available to purchase directly from my website or from my representing galleries.

All of the works are available as large prints, with some up to 50 inches / 127 cm. We also offer a free art consultation service and will be pleased to help you to select an art print from the series to suit your home or interior design project. Please feel free to get in touch!

Best wishes
